My philosophy
I've never been one to shy away from asking someone if they need their picture taken. Whether it's a couple at Disney struggling to take a selfie or a friend looking bomb at dinner, there's always been something about giving someone a photo of themselves that brings me a little joy. The relief, excitement, or surprise on someone's face? It's straight dopamine!
That's ultimately what photography is to me: a snapshot of a moment in time. A tangible memory. A way to hold onto something that, otherwise, only existed for a few seconds.
I believe everyone has a story worth remembering, no matter how big or small. And I don't think the most important parts of that story are always the obvious ones.
Of course, I'll be there for the big moments. The first look. The first dance. The big entrance. The celebratory champagne. But I'm also looking for the things that happen in between: the real laughs, the little glances, the conversations happening off to the side, the moments that weren't staged or planned. Those little pieces fill in the cracks of a story, and sometimes they matter the most.
What makes a successful photograph?
For me, it's a photograph that captures a moment as it truly felt.
Great composition, focus, lighting, and all the technical stuff matter (I'm a photographer, after all), but emotion, story, and timelessness matter more. I want you to look at a photograph years from now and think, "Oh my gosh. I remember exactly how that felt."
My goal isn't just for you to have beautiful photos. It's for you to have photos that make you nostalgic. The kind that make you go "awwwww" and let you relive a really, really good day.
The experience matters, too.
I want the way I photograph you to be just as memorable as the photographs themselves. People remember how you make them feel, and I believe you deserve a photographer who is kind, eager, informative, prompt, professional, and - most importantly - fun to be around.
My biggest goal isn't beautiful photos. It's an experience that happens to come with beautiful photos.
I can be a fly on the wall or as involved as you need me to be. You can involve me as much or as little as you'd like. The moment is yours. I'm just here to make sure you get to keep it.
